Our Thrift Store opened its doors inside our Family Life Center on May 3rd, 2018. As many of you have experienced over the years things break down, quit or inexplicably just won’t work any longer and needed to be replaced or if we’re lucky just repaired. Well things are no different at the Myrtle Beach Christian Church. The HVAC inside the Family Life Center has become unreliable and grossly inadequate, so we started the Thrift Store to generate the necessary funds to replace and provide 2 new 7.5 ton units for climate control for our youth and the congregation. The Thrift Store also provides the opportunity to witness to folks that donate and folks that come to shop.
Thanks to donations of merchandise and our great carpenters, we have almost 1500 square feet of space filled with furniture, knick knacks, cook and bake ware, china, clothes, kids toys, jewelry, shoes tools, books, linens, bikes, microwaves and small kitchen appliances. So far the Thrift has been successful in raising funds. By mid-year 2019 we will have raised enough money to purchase and install the 2 new units. But once complete it does not mean there are no other projects that need our attention. Thank you to our volunteers that man the store each week and the people that continue to donate merchandise. The store is open Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
If you have good, clean, undamaged items or vehicles you would like to donate you can do it 2 different ways. For a donation form you can call the church office at 843-236-1121 and leave us a message. We’ll be sure to call you back. Your donations would also be tax deductible.
